During the night of Wednesday, July 15 to Thursday, July 16, 2026, the rural municipality of Mangina, located in Beni Territory, North Kivu Province, was once again targeted in an attack by the Islamist Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

According to local sources, the attackers raided the Makukulu neighborhood, specifically the Ntobili block. They went from house to house, killing at least 10 civilians and setting several homes on fire before fleeing the area.

“They killed at least 10 people and injured several others. They also burned down houses before leaving,” said a resident of Mangina.

The mayor of the municipality, Nicolas Kikuku, confirmed the incident. He said the attackers were eventually repelled following the rapid intervention of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC).

The tragedy comes just one day after another attack in the same municipality that claimed the lives of four people. The local authority has called on residents to remain highly vigilant to protect themselves from these repeated attacks.

For its part, civil society has condemned what it describes as the negligence of the security services. It regrets the lack of an effective response despite prior warnings from residents about the presence of armed men. In light of the situation, civil society is calling for stronger protection measures and urging the army to launch offensives to permanently neutralize the attackers.
